YouTube Invites Shorts Creators to Bonuses Up to ¥300,000 a Month. Ad Share Still Needs 10 Million Views.
Invite-only Shorts bonuses landing in Studio put caps as high as ¥300,000 a month on the table for 16 posts, while Shorts ad share still needs 10 million views in 90 days from February 2027.
Illustration: POST/HYPE Studio / AI-generatedYouTube has begun sending invite-only Shorts bonus offers to select Partner Program creators, and Japanese Studio screenshots circulating Friday put concrete monthly caps on the record: as much as ¥150,000 for posting 12 Shorts, or ¥300,000 for 16, according to Yutura's roundup of creator notifications. Google's Shorts bonus help page confirms the two-layer payout structure without publishing yen figures or a public rate card.
The program is invitation-only. There is no application. Eligible creators get an email to their primary contact address or a YouTube Studio notification, then must accept the program terms by a deadline. Opt-in is once per bonus opportunity. NetInfluencer, citing a YouTube Creator Insider video and Google documentation, said the pilot is open to select YPP creators in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, Japan, and South Korea.
Payout splits into two layers. A Promotional Offer Payment — the minimum — requires uploading the number of public Shorts specified in the invitation within each calendar month. A separate Promotional Bonus can stack on top based on "valid, engaged Shorts views as determined by Google." Creators are "not guaranteed" that bonus. Engagement metrics go through a validation process that can take several days and may differ from YouTube Analytics. Yutura's reporting of the terms, matching the help page, also notes that the channel must still be monetizing at month-end to get paid. Bonus money is added to finalized YouTube earnings and paid through the normal AdSense cycle, typically between the 21st and 26th of the following month.
Invitation amounts vary by creator. Yutura cited VTuber Murata (about 30,000 subscribers) reporting a Studio offer of 12 Shorts a month for up to ¥150,000, and VTuber community operator Syulph (about 60,000) reporting 16 Shorts for a ¥45,000 guarantee plus rewards up to ¥300,000. Multiple creator reports put the promotion window at November through January — three months. Those yen caps come from creator-shared Studio screenshots aggregated by Yutura, not a published Google rate card. The help page says additional earnings are "based on the typical earnings in your country," so the same invite format can pay differently by market. The maximum on the invite is a ceiling, not a promise.
The timing is the story. On August 10, YouTube said that from February 1, 2027, Shorts ad and subscription revenue share will require 10 million qualified Shorts views in the trailing 90 days — a floor that applies to existing YPP members, not only new applicants. Channels below that line stay in YPP and keep long-form earnings; Shorts share resumes automatically when they cross 10 million again. The same blog post promised "bonuses for YouTube Shopping, incentives for brand deals, and earnings boosts for starting and growing trends" for channels under the bar, without pricing them. The Shorts bonus pilot is the first of those mechanisms to show up with real invite copy and creator-reported yen ceilings.
Separately, YouTube doubled new-applicant thresholds for ads and Premium share to 8,000 qualified watch hours or 20 million Shorts views, while saying it expects to pay creators more in 2027 than in 2026. It has not published how it picks Shorts bonus invitees. Until Google puts a public rate card next to the 10 million-view rule, the money mechanics are clear enough: Shorts ad share is being reserved for high-volume channels, and invited creators are being paid on a monthly upload checklist with a views kicker instead.
