YouTube Says India Shopping Payouts Jumped More Than 160%. Amazon Joins the Shelf.
Average affiliate payouts to Indian creators more than doubled-plus between the first quarters of 2025 and 2026, YouTube said, as Amazon, Meesho, AJIO, Snapdeal and Tata CLiQ expand the merchant shelf ahead of festive season.
Illustration: POST/HYPE Studio / AI-generatedYouTube on Thursday expanded its Shopping affiliate programme in India, adding Amazon, AJIO, Meesho, Snapdeal and Tata CLiQ to a shelf that already includes Flipkart, Myntra, Nykaa, Purplle, Shopsy and Tira. The Hindu Business Line, Moneycontrol and t2ONLINE carried the company announcement the same day.
The payout claim is the stake. YouTube said average payouts to Indian creators in the programme grew more than 160 per cent year on year between the first quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. Global average payouts grew more than 100 per cent over the same window. Treat both figures as company-stated averages, not audited creator income and not a disclosed commission rate.
Enrolment and tagging scale are also company-stated. More than half of eligible Indian creators are now in the programme, with enrolment up 200 per cent year on year, and those creators have tagged more than 19 million videos. YouTube put shopping-related watch time in India up 55 per cent year on year and said more than 450 million logged-in users in the country search for shopping-related content on the platform.
Amazon is the continuity line for Posthype readers. On 27 August, YouTube opened Amazon product tags to eligible U.S. creators; Posthype filed that the Help Center still hides the commission rate and that AdSense pays locked commissions two cycles later. The India extension is the same rail crossing markets. YouTube's Made On YouTube blog, posted 23 September by Amjad Hanif and Travis Katz, said Amazon tagging is expanding to India and Brazil in the coming weeks, with more countries before year-end, and that the affiliate programme itself is headed to 35 countries by the end of 2026. Globally, YouTube put the affiliate programme at more than 1.3 million creators, shopping-related watch time above 40 billion hours in 2025, and gross merchandise value up 13 times over two years.
What still is not public is the price of the tag. Neither the India announcement nor the global blog states a commission percentage, a per-category rate card, or how Amazon commissions in India will clear through AdSense relative to Flipkart or Meesho. Purplle told the India wires that creator-tagged videos drove close to a quarter of a million orders in under a year and that nearly 3,000 creators had earned a Purplle commission — useful merchant color, still company-claimed. Exclusive Affiliate Campaigns with bonus incentives and higher rates are scheduled for India next year; Nykaa is already lined up to use Affiliate Partnerships Boost this festive season.
Until YouTube publishes a rate, the hard public facts are the merchant list, the company-stated 160 per cent India / 100 per cent global payout averages, the enrolment and tagging counts, and the Amazon-to-India timeline.
