X Moves U.S. Creator Payouts to X Money. Stripe Stays Outside the U.S.

Original Content Rewards and subscriptions now settle through X Money in the United States. Non-U.S. creators stay on Stripe. Revenue Sharing still ends 7 September.

X said on 2 September 2026 that U.S. payouts for Original Content Rewards and creator subscriptions will run through X Money, the platform's payments product. TechCrunch reported the same day that an X representative confirmed the change is required for creators in the United States; creators outside the U.S. remain on Stripe.

The Creators account framed the switch as speed: creators get access to payouts the moment they are sent. The Help Center still states that Original Content Rewards payouts are processed every two weeks with a $30 minimum. What changed is the rail, not the published accrual cadence. U.S. creators need an active X Money account; non-U.S. creators still connect Stripe and finish identity verification there.

Help Center rules tighten the Money side further. Each X Money account links to only one X account. Each person can hold only one X Money account, tied to Social Security Number, so a second X account does not open a second Money account.

X Money is not a bank. Deposit accounts are held at Cross River Bank, Member FDIC, and other FDIC-insured institutions under the product's cash-sweep terms. The X Money site markets up to 6.00% APY as of 27 July 2026, with rates and eligibility varying by subscription and jurisdiction; Premium+ is listed at 6.00%, and Premium users may reach that boosted rate when qualifying direct-deposit requirements are met. New York residents are excluded from APY on the published terms. X's Creators update said creator payouts count toward those direct-deposit requirements.

Tax reporting rides with the rail. X said it will issue Form 1099-NEC to individuals receiving creator payouts and will collect W-9 information from LLC operators so the forms land correctly.

The payout change lands five days before Creator Revenue Sharing retires on 7 September 2026. New enrollments into that program stopped on 7 August. Existing members keep earning through the cutoff, with a final legacy payout for earnings through 7 September expected on or around 11 September, then apply to Original Content Rewards from 8 September. Posthype previously reported that the replacement still publishes no rate or pool percentage for a qualified Premium Home Timeline impression.

U.S. creators who already use X Money need no further setup for the next disbursement. Everyone else opens Money from the sidebar and connects before the next U.S. payout cycle. Stripe remains the documented path only outside the United States.
